Dr. Emery C. Warnock is Adjunct Professor of Music and Wind Ensemble Director at Piedmont University, Demorest, Georgia. He recently retired after 30 years teaching middle school band in Georgia. He holds a PhD in music education from The University of Utah. He is also a graduate of Berry College (BA), The Florida State University (MS) and VanderCook College of Music (MMEd).

Dr. Warnock is a researcher in music education with publications in the field’s peer-reviewed journals, some of which include the Journal of Band Research, The Instrumentalist, Research Perspectives in Music Education, Southern Music Education Journal, Contributions in Music Education, and Journal of Historical Research in Music Education. He is continually cited for his contributions to the theory of attraction towards ensemble participation and for his historical research in music education. Beyond research interests, Dr. Warnock is a published arranger of concert band and brass quintet music.

Dr. Warnock has received many honors, some of which include being selected as a Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholar, receiving the National Band Association Citation of Excellence on multiple occasions, and chosen as a District Teacher-of-the-Year, twice as a school Teacher of the Year. He holds membership in NAfME, GMEA, National Band Association, Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity and the American School Band Directors Association. He lives in Clarkesville, Georgia with his wife Dr. Susanna Warnock and son Liam Warnock.
