Jamey Kelley is associate professor of choral music education at the University of North Texas. He teaches choral conducting, undergraduate and graduate classes in music education, and works closely with student teachers in the choral classroom. He is a frequent presenter and clinician at practitioner and research conferences across the country.
Dr. Kelley’s research interests include singing accuracy, participation in music, social psychology of music education, antiracist music education, and gender issues in music education. Dr. Kelley’s research has been published in the Journal of Research in Music Education, Psychology of Music, the Journal of Music Teacher Education, Research Studies in Music Education, Music Educators Journal, International Journal of Community Music, Contributions to Music Education, and Research Perspectives in Music Education. He is also co-author of World Music Pedagogy (Volume III): Secondary School Innovations, a book on incorporating world music pedagogy within high school music classrooms published by Routledge.
Prior to his appointment at UNT, he was program coordinator of music education at Florida International University in Miami. Dr. Kelley has considerable music teaching experience in K-12 settings. With ten years of experience, he has taught secondary choral music, AP theory, and general music in Tennessee, Illinois, and Maryland.
