Conference Dates & Location: April 10-14, 2014 St. Louis, Missouri Purpose: The purpose of the Research & Music Teacher Education National Conference is to provide a forum for music education researchers, music teacher educators, music program leaders/music administrators/curriculum specialists, and all interested NAfME members to encounter current research and pedagogical innovations that will shape the future of the profession. Submission Deadline: October 15, 2013 To achieve this purpose, music education professionals who are members of NAfME are invited to submit educational session proposals for the 2014 Research & Music Teacher Education National Conference to be held in St. Louis, Missouri, April 10-12, 2014. Proposals must be received by Tuesday, October 15, 2013, by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time; extensions will not be granted. As part of the online submission process, applicants will designate one NAfME society or council (or appropriate subdivision thereof)–Society for Research in Music Education™ (SRME), Society for Music Teacher Education™ (SMTE), or Council of Music Program Leaders (CMPL)–for adjudication. Multiple submissions of the same proposal will not be permitted. Final decisions will be made by an advisory panel of the society/council designated by the applicant. Presentation Formats: Applicants may submit one or more proposals for presentation in one of the formats listed below. Submission Process & Deadlines for All Proposals:
- Submission will be web-based and will be available through the NAfME website by September 1, 2013.
2. Submissions will require specific file formatting. When submitting, you will be asked to provide a 750-word abstract. The file must be uploaded in Word Document (.doc or .docx) or Portable Document (.pdf) format. Other formats will not be accepted. The document should contain no clues as to author identity or institutional affiliation. 3. Registration and NAfME Membership are required. If accepted, all music educator presenters must register for and attend the conference. Furthermore, presenters must be members of NAfME at the time of application and dates of the conference. 4. Submissions must be received by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, October15, 2013. Extensions will not be granted. 5. Correspondence will be limited. Correspondence will be sent only to the first presenter/first author, who will be notified of receipt of the manuscript and the reviewers’ decision exclusively by e-mail. 6. All first presenters/first authors will be notified of the reviewers’ decision by December 15, 2013.
