Amber Friel is the Communications Manager of Advocacy and Public Policy at NAfME. In this role, she develops and implements strategies to elevate the organization’s federal and state policy initiatives, mobilizes grassroots advocacy efforts, and leads digital storytelling campaigns that amplify the value of music and arts education.

Before joining NAfME in September 2025, Amber served as an Account Specialist at a strategic communications firm in Washington, D.C., where she managed content development, media relations, and social media strategy for a range of clients.

A proud North Carolinian, Amber graduated with Highest Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media, earning a B.A. in Advertising and Public Relations with a minor in Social and Economic Justice.

Having grown up as a dedicated band kid, Amber is passionate about advancing equity in music education and using the power of storytelling to showcase the transformative impact of the arts.
