Dr. Martinson currently serves as the Manager of Arts and PE for Denver Public Schools in curriculum and instruction.  In this role she is responsible for designing curriculum, assessments, and professional learning for DPS Arts & PE Educators that focus on equity and progressive, culturally relevant, comprehensive Arts & PE education for ALL students.  Before moving into this role, Dr. Martinson previously was the K-12 Music Instructional Curriculum Specialist for DPS and before that she taught K-8 general music and middle school instrumental music for 21 years in the urban school settings of Milwaukee, Minneapolis, and Denver Public Schools.  Dr. Martinson also holds a degree in Music Therapy which informs her inclusive music education philosophy and has led her to create inclusive and adapted Arts and  PE education pathways for students. Dr. Martinson considers it her life mission to ensure that the Arts education especially music education evolves to represent and support all ways of making music and all students regardless of life experiences, backgrounds, and ability levels can hear and see themselves in the ways they want to make music in their lives.
