St. Louis Conference to Focus on Music Education Research and Teacher Education

Registration is now open for the 2014 Music Research & Teacher Education National Conference. The Conference will be held April 10–12 at the St. Louis (Missouri) Union Station Doubletree by Hilton Hotel. 

Leaders of the National Association for Music Education (NAFME), including music education researchers, music teacher educators, and music program leaders will participate in the three-day conference.

The conference will include open forums, presentations by key national music education scholars, research poster sessions, and planning meetings.

Several authors of NAfME books are among session presenters. They include:

  • Carol Benton Thinking about Thinking: Metacognition for Music Learning
  • Patrick K. Freer TIPS:  The First Weeks of Middle School Chorus
    Michele Kaschub and Janice Smith Minds on Music: Composition for Creative and Critical Thinking
  • Kelly Parkes, Workbook for Building and Evaluating Effective Music Education in the School Ensemble and Workbook for Building and Evaluating Effective Music Education in General Music
  • Laura Sindburg Just Good Teaching:  Comprehensive Musicianship through Performance in Theory and Practice

In addition,  award-winning scientist, musician, and record producer Daniel Levitin will present the Conference keynote address.
