Student Composition Contest Winners Concert a Success

The Student Composers Contest winners’ concert at the Millennium Stage of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on June 24 was a big success.  Just prior to the concert, student composers and attendees at the Music Education Week Composition Academy enjoyed a discussion of composition techniques and processes led by prominent American composer, Dr. Philip Lasser of the Juilliard School and the European American Musical Alliance and Dr. Daniel Deutsch, chair of the NAfME Council for Music Composition.

The three winning pieces for woodwind ensemble were played to a full house by the U.S. Marine Band Chamber Ensemble
