2016 marks 80 years of the International Tri-M Music Honor Society®. Tri-M® is the only nationally recognized music honor society, and has over 1,700 chapters and 67,000 student members. It is designed to recognize students for their academic and musical achievements, reward them for their accomplishments and service activities, and to inspire other students to excel at music and leadership.

Each year, Tri-M hosts the Chapter of the Year Award Program, designed to motivate and reward chapters that perform service projects throughout the school year in their communities, and increase awareness and interest in other Tri-M chapter’s activities. The Chapter of the Year Scholarship is intended to recognize the achievements of three Junior Division (middle school) and three Senior Division (high school) chapters.

The application for the Tri-M Chapter of the Year Award Program can be found on the Tri-M website, and asks for a summary of each chapter’s service project activity during the current school year.
