Tri-M chapter advisers take note. Did your chapter hold a fundraising event? Serve in your community or work on leadership skills? Tell the National Association for Music Education and you could be awarded scholarship money for your chapter.

The Tri-M Music Honor Society is the international music honor society for middle/junior high and high school students. It is designed to recognize students for their academic and musical achievements, reward them for their accomplishments and service activities, and to inspire other students to excel at music and leadership.

Tri-M is a program of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).

Chapter of the Year

The Tri-M National Chapter of the Year program is designed to motivate and reward chapters that perform service projects; encourage Chapter officers to perform their duties properly, and increase awareness in what other Tri-M chapters are doing. All active chapters are eligible to participate.

The National Chapter of the Year will be chosen by review of the information submitted on the  NAfME Tri-M Chapter Summary Report Form, which is due by May 15, 2014.  A winning chapter, first runner-up and second runner-up will be chosen in both a senior and junior division. Each chapter will receive a scholarship grant.

Scholarship funds will be awarded in the following way:

In the Senior Division,  the Chapter of the Year will receive $1,000 with $800 for the First Runner-Up, and $600 for the Second Runner-Up. In the  Junior Division, the Chapter of the Year will receive $800, the First Runner-Up, $600 and the Second Runner-Up, $400.

The Tri-M National Chapter of the Year (Senior and Junior) will receive an engraved service plaque. All participants will receive a certificate of recognition for participating in the Chapter of the Year application process.

Through more than 5,500 chartered chapters, Tri-M has helped thousands of young people provide years of service through music in schools throughout the world.
