NAfME Professional Development Committee

NAfME’s Professional Development Committee (PDC) was established in September 2020 under the direction of 2020-2022 NAfME President Mackie V. Spradley. The PDC oversees, guides, and/or develops diverse in-person and online professional development programs and resources to support the enduring as well as emerging professional development needs of NAfME members.

The committee has diverse representation from NAfME’s membership. The PDC’ co-chairs represent three of NAfME’s Music Educators Association regions. Other committee members represent NAfME’s societies (SRME and SMTE), councils, the Equity Committee, and other key stakeholders such as pre-service and new teachers.

The committee’s primary roles and activities are to:

·        Develop and vet professional learning community webinars and other virtual content for members, including for the NAfME Academy

·        Serve as Chair of the Biennial Music Teacher Research and Teacher Education National Conference (reporting back to the National Executive Board)

·        Vet selected professional development-related collaborative agreements (reporting back to the National Executive Board)

·        Discuss, analyze, and prioritize education topics and issues to serve the on-going professional development needs of NAfME’s diverse membership
